FINDING THE RIGHT COLLEGE

There are thousands of colleges and universities out there, and choosing one that fits you can be a daunting task. Begin by thinking about your goals and what you want to get tout of your college experience. Next, you will need to do some research. A good place to start is by using a college search tool. Below are links to some common college search engines. After narrowing down your search, spend time researching the schools on your list by checking out their websites.

ON-CAMPUS COLLEGE VISITS

Many colleges and universities will be visiting our campus this year. Students need to remember that they MUST sign up with Mrs. Houser in the Counseling Office to attend any college speaker presentation. A pass to the speaker (required to attend) will be issued to the student just prior to the presentation. REMINDER! Only junior and senior students may attend college visits.

IN STATE ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

University of Nevada, Las Vegas

Admission requirements

  • GPA: 3.0 in core subjects

  • Courses: 4 yrs English, 3 yrs Math (Algebra I or higher), 3 yrs Science, 3 yrs Social Studies

  • Testing: SAT of 1040, ACT of 22 (test scores used for class placement; must be submitted PRIOR to registration)

  • Annual Application Deadline: February 1

University of Nevada, Reno

Admission requirements

  • GPA: 3.0 in core subjects

  • Courses: 4 yrs English, 3 yrs Math (Algebra I or higher), 3 yrs Science, 3 yrs Social Studies

Nevada State College

  • Courses: High School diploma or GED

  • Testing: SAT, ACT or placement exam

Sierra Nevada College

Admission requirements

  • GPA: 2.6

  • Courses: 4 yrs English, 3 yrs Math (Algebra I or higher), 2 yrs Science, 2 yrs Social Studies

  • Testing: SAT of 800 (400 in Math, 400 in Reading); ACT of 19

  • Application Deadline: None (rolling admissions)
